Australian shares were up 0.7 per cent to 7171.8 by lunchtime, led by gains in the materials and healthcare sectors.
The best performing stock was Syrah Resources, its shares jumped 5.4 per cent to $1.78. Afterpay parent Block shares increased 3.8 per cent to $102.58. De Grey Mining shares rose 4.7 per cent to $1.565.
The worst performing stock was HMC Capital, its shares fell 3.7 per cent to $3.54. Harvey Norman shares dropped 3.2 per cent to $3.60.
BHP Group shares rose 1.7 per cent to $46.86.
