Tokyo stocks open slightly lower after Wall Street losses

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower Wednesday, tracking declines on Wall Street overnight, with caution prevailing ahead of Japan-U.S. tariff negotiations.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 104.25 points, or 0.30 percent, from Tuesday to 34,163.29. The broader Topix index was down 0.03 point at 2,513.32.
On the top-tier Prime Market, decliners were led by precision instrument, marine transportation, and textile and apparel issues.
At 9 a.m., the U.S. dollar fetched 143.14-19 yen compared with 143.22-32 yen in New York and 143.30-32 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The euro was quoted at $1.1292-1295 and 161.63-73 yen against $1.1275-1285 and 161.58-68 yen in New York and $1.1357-1358 and 162.75-79 yen in Tokyo late
