China Stocks End Mixed as Trump Makes No Mention of China Tariffs; Jinko Closes 3% Lower

(MT Newswires) -- Chinese stocks ended mixed on Tuesday following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, with investors showing relief he did not mention tariffs during his swearing-in ceremony.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, slipped 0.054% or by 1.76 points to 3,242.62. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.48% or by 49.30 points to 10,305.69.
Trump neither made mention of China nor announced hefty tariffs against Chinese goods during his inaugural address, Reuters reported Tuesday.
He instead asked the US government to "investigate and remedy" US trade deficits and trade practices by other nations, according to the report.
In corporate news, President Trump also signed an executive order on Monday to delay a ban on TikTok by 75 days, Reuters reported separately. The video app went dark Saturday shortly before a law that was supposed to order the sale of the app's US operations or ban it took effect Sunday, the report said.
While signing the order, Trump suggested TikTok should be half-owned by the US government in exchange for keeping the app active. He also said he could impose tariffs on China should its government fail to approve a deal with TikTok, Reuters said.
Elsewhere, Jinko Solar's shares finished 3% lower in Shanghai after its unit filed a patent infringement lawsuit against LONG i Green Energy Technology .
Jinko is seeking payment for economic losses related to TOPC on or tunnel oxide passivated contact technology for solar cell production.
LONG i's shares closed 2% lower.
