3rd December 2024 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened higher today, rising by 35 points or 0.17% to reach 19,585 points. The Enterprise Index also saw a modest increase, gaining 9 points or 0.13% to settle at 7,018 points. Meanwhile, the Technology Index rose by 7 points or 0.18%, bringing it to 4,413 points.
In the technology sector, individual stocks displayed mixed results. Tencent experienced a notable increase, climbing by 0.8%. In contrast, Alibaba faced a slight decline, falling by 0.3%. Meituan also dipped marginally, decreasing by 0.1%. On a more positive note, Xiaomi Group saw a rise of 1%, while JD.com added 0.3% to its share price. Kuaishou, on the other hand, remained unchanged, showing no significant movement either up or down.
The financial sector presented a varied landscape as well, with some stocks gaining while others declined. HSBC Holdings slipped by 0.2%, reflecting a minor downturn. Conversely, AIA Group saw an uplift, rising by 0.6%. China Ping An's stock remained steady with no change, while the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing ( HKEX ) recorded an increase of 0.4%.
