12th October 2026 - (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities opened firmer, with the Hang Seng Index rising 223 points to 24,434 on initial turnover of HK$2.93 billion. Early buying was led by heavyweight technology names, lifting the Hang Seng Tech Index by one per cent to 4,241.
Alibaba Group Holding (09988) advanced about three per cent and NetEase (09999) gained two per cent, while HSBC (00005) edged up 0.6 per cent, helping to underpin the broader market. By 9.22am, the positive tone extended across select consumer names, with Miniso Group (09896) opening more than five per cent higher at HK$18.99. The company reported that its mainland gross merchandise value during the National Day holiday grew by around 20 to 25 per cent, and said its in-house IP Yoyo had entered the "billion-yuan club".
