11th March 2026 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened 152 points higher, or 0.58 per cent, at 26,112 points in Wednesday morning trading, reflecting positive sentiment across Hong Kong's equity markets. The H-shares Index gained 55 points, or 0.63 per cent, reaching 8,765 points, while the Technology Index advanced 44 points, or 0.87 per cent, to 5,104 points.
Technology stocks broadly outperformed, with Tencent leading the charge with a substantial 4.4 per cent increase. Alibaba followed with a 1.5 per cent gain, while Meituan edged up 0.1 per cent. Xiaomi remained flat, JD.com added 0.4 per cent, and Kuaishou climbed 1.3 per cent, contributing to the sector's overall strength.
Financial stocks presented a mixed picture as investors weighed differing prospects across the sector. HSBC Holdings declined 0.6 per cent, while AIA Insurance advanced 1 per cent. Ping An Insurance slipped 0.1 per cent, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing recorded a 0.9 per cent gain, highlighting the divergent performance within the financial segment.
