13th November 2024 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened lower today, down 174 points or 0.88%, settling at 19,671 points, marking its fourth consecutive day of losses. The National Enterprises Index fell by 67 points, or 0.95%, to 7,059 points, while the Technology Index decreased by 62 points, or 1.41%, to 4,393 points.
Major technology stocks experienced downward pressure, with Tencent dropping 1.6%, Alibaba declining by 1.2%, and Meituan falling 1.5%. JD.com saw a more significant decrease of 2.5%, while Xiaomi and Kuaishou fell by 1.5% and 0.6%, respectively.
Financial stocks also softened, with HSBC Holdings and AIA Insurance each down by 0.6%. China Ping An fell by 1.2%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing dropped 1.9%.
The automotive sector faced particularly steep declines, with XPeng Motors and NIO both down by 5.3%. Li Auto fell 0.8%, while Geely and BYD experienced decreases of 2.2% and 2%, respectively.
